0:16 Notre-Dame herself speaks, crying out in pain and outrage at what is happening before her. I loved that the film kept the original author's message of the cathedral herself being a sentient character.

Frollo is also a Roman Catholic and originally was piously religious to begin with. One thing original about him as most other Disney villains ie Jafar and the evil queen use conjuring and sorcery, which is forbidden in Christian denominations.

Is it God making the statues glare at him or is it the Notre-Dame Cathedral herself, I wonder? Either interpretation works, to be honest.

Tbf if you were alive in 13th century France, and were one of the first ever to see a Harlequin baby. You'd think it was a Demon too.

This and Deliver Us from the Prince of Egypt have been in a stalemate for greatest animated movie intro since they came out in the 90s. Nothing since has come close to them.

I love how we see that knife is inching closer to Quasimodo's face while he is afraid, then, he gets mad and shoves Frollo across the room with no difficulty. He wasn't giving it is all, then when he did, Frollo saw that he was outclassed and he is terrified, knowing if Quasimodo tried to return the favor with that knife, Frollo couldn't stop him.
